CORNING · INSPECTION STRATEGYprofessional

When is more inspection not better inspection?

I built simulation models in R to compare alternative QC rules and inspection strategies, putting detection capability and inspection cost on the same basis for a decision.

Detection capability × inspection cost

What I worked on

The alternatives were QC rule sets and inspection strategies—not simply different models predicting a defect label. I quantified the detection-versus-cost trade-off and selected plans that maintained product quality while removing unnecessary checks.

I also standardized data-driven QC plans across global manufacturing sites and presented the analysis behind inspection scope and product disposition to engineering and operations stakeholders. The practical output was an inspection decision, not just an analysis report.
